Patrick Michael McCollum

Patrick Michael “Mike” McCollum, 63 year old resident of Decatur, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of February 20, 2024. He was born on December 28, 1960, in Gravette, Arkansas, to Edward Newton and Winonna Christine McCollum. Upon graduating as the valedictorian of Decatur High School, Michael (Mike) obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Science and Agriculture from the University of Arkansas. He succeeded his father, Dr Edward “Bud” McCollum, in taking ownership of the Decatur Medi Clinic and like his father before him, he took pride in helping meet the healthcare needs of his community. He was blessed to have Peggy Beal by his side in the daily operations of the clinic for over 32 years and a staff of caring people who loved their patients like family. As an avid outdoorsman, Mike spent countless hours working on the farm, cleaning up brush, splitting wood, working cattle, hunting, and gardening. But he always made time for hosting weekend gatherings in his “man cave”watching the Razorbacks and hanging out at the creek to relax and enjoy friends, family and nature. Mike loved his family with all his heart. His devoted wife of 19 years, Terrie, was the love of his life. His beautiful daughter, Ashley was his pride and joy. Mike was proud to add 4 bonus children into his life who would eventually bring 4 awesome grandchildren into the fold. He loved the role of “Papa Mike”and was known for giving the best hugs! Mike and his sisters, Kim and Michelle, had a very special bond. They were truly each others best friends. Whether it was Friday night Mexican dinners, weekends at the lake or time spent at the creek, their connection was priceless and stood the test of time. Mike also had a “band of brothers” that were his closest friends. They laughed and enjoyed each others company on a regular basis. Their shenanigans knew no boundaries whether it was while hunting, fishing, watching sports, or competing for the tri-county leg wrestling championship! Mike had such a giving heart and was always happy to help a friend, neighbor, or patient in need. He loved and was loved by so many people and will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by both parents; and a son, Aaron McCollum. He is survived by his wife, Terrie Lynn (Akins) McCollum, of the home; daughters, Ashley McCollum, of Decatur, Arkansas, and Amber Dedmon (Doug), of Greenwood, Arkansas; son, Derek Green (Elizabeth), of Alma, Arkansas; grandchildren, Hunter Dedmon, Braden Green, Anna Grace Dedmon, and Eden Green; twin sister, Michelle McCollum (Gary Aftos), of Rogers, Arkansas, and Grove, Oklahoma; sister, Kim Eiler (Don), of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; nephews, Nick Eiler, of Denver, Colorado, Chris Eiler, of Farmington, Arkansas, and Will (Kayce) Lancett, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, along with Will’s father, Mike Lancett, of Grove, Oklahoma. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
