Ellen Marie Hartley

Ellen Marie (Holcomb) Hartley, 87, of Greenville, Illinois, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Greenville Nursing and Rehab. Born on January 13, 1938, in Shenandoah, Iowa, Ellen was the daughter of Thomas Price Holcomb and Della Marie (Ades) Holcomb. After graduating from Siloam Springs High School (1956), on November 17, 1956, Ellen married Robert Lee Hartley in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. They shared 59 years of marriage before his passing in 2016. Together, they built a life defined by devotion and love. She worked in many professions, always providing for her family. One of which, was in the medical field, working as a medical transcriptionist at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A fourth-generation Free Methodist, and pastor’s wife, she lived a life of faith and was a source of encouragement and spiritual strength to her family and church community. Ellen was a member of the Church of Nazarene in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and never moved her membership. She remained active in her faith throughout her life, always placing the Lord and her loved ones at the center of all she did. Ellen will be remembered for her faith, and her love for her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Hartley; her father, Thomas Price Holcomb; her mother Della Marie (Ades) Holcomb; her granddaughter, Hannah Elyse Hartley. She is survived by two sons, Brian Hartley and wife, Darlene of Greenville, Illinois, and Bob Hartley and wife, Sue, of Apple Valley, Minnesota; her daughter, Penny Hagerman and husband, Allen of Aurora, Colorado; five granddaughters, Emily Hager and husband, Robert of St. Louis, Missouri, Evangeline Orr and husband, Dominic of Juneau, Alaska, Erin Snook and husband, Jamie of McPherson, Kansas, Amber Coursen and husband, Jeremy of Springfield, Missouri, and Kristen Over, of Aurora Colorado; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Holcomb and wife, LaVerna of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, and Dean Holcomb and wife, Mary of Lowell, Arkansas. A visitation is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 6, 2025, at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Wasson Funeral Home, with Pastor Timothy Traxel officiating. A committal service will follow, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
