Walter "Jiggs" Marshall Jr.

Walter “Jiggs” Marshall, Jr., age 93, passed from this life on January 6, 2025. He was born September 5, 1931, in Henderson, Texas, to Walter Marshall, Sr. and Levaie Beck Marshall. He had been a lifelong resident of the Colcord, Oklahoma area. On May 17, 1974, he married the love of his life, Virginia, at Tahlequah, OK. Recently celebrating 50 years together, they created many cherished memories throughout their marriage. Jiggs learned many skills as a young man while growing up on the family farm including fishing, hunting, gardening, cutting wood, etc., and became an excellent outdoorsman. He was an avid hunter of deer, quail, squirrel, rabbits, and loved hunting with his coon dogs. He also enjoyed traveling many times to hunt elk in Colorado. He was an excellent provider and was always willing to share fish and garden vegetables with his family and friends. Jiggs worked many times in the broomcorn harvest and wheat harvest in Oklahoma and Kansas. He was a skilled block/brick mason and carpenter. Jiggs strived for perfection in his work, having helped build several homes in this area. Jiggs was soft spoken, but firm, and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a strong, faithful, Christian. Having been saved and baptized in 1980, he lived his life with an unwavering faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Marshall, Sr. and Levaie Beck Marshall; sisters, Martha Coleman and Elsie Reading; brother, Elmer Marshall; step-son, Lance Harrington; and other family and friends. Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Virginia Marshall; step-daughter, Dede Harrington Vaughn of Siloam Springs, AR; sisters, Marie Hurt of Colcord, OK, Leona Shook and husband Mack of Siloam Springs, AR, Wynona Rogers of Bentonville, AR, Judy Case of Gentry, AR, Doreen January and husband Charles of Colcord, OK; brother, William Marshall and wife Paula of Inola, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, friends, and his faithful dog, “Macy”. Jiggs will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
