Leona (Marshall) Shook

Leona (Marshall) Shook, 89, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025. She was born in Colcord, OK, on June 16, 1935, to Walter Eugene Marshall Sr. and Leavie Myrtle (Beck) Marshall. Leona married the love of her life, Mack Shook, on June 3, 1961, in Marysville, Kansas. They were blessed with 63 wonderful years together. Leona was a kind, caring, and elegant woman. She was saved and baptized at First Baptist Church in Alma, AR, in August 1970. She had a servant’s heart, and loved to make sure her family was well taken care of. Leona was also an excellent cook and volunteered to cook for First Baptist Church in Siloam Springs for many years, where she was a faithful member since 1976. Leona enjoyed taking care of her flower garden and collecting rocks from her trips to Colorado. She also spent time helping as a caterer at weddings with Betty Brenner. But most of all, Leona loved to be with her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Eugene Marshall Sr. and Leavie Myrtle (Beck) Marshall; sisters, Martha Coleman and Elsie Reading; and brothers, Elmer Marshall and Walter “Jiggs” Marshall Jr. She is survived by her loving husband, Mack Shook of the Home; son, Scott Shook and wife Laura of Old Monroe, MO; daughter, Kimberly Hayes of Anchorage, AK; son-in-law, Timothy Hayes of Siloam Springs, AR; sisters, Marie Hurt of Colcord, OK, Wynona Rogers of Bentonville, AR, Judy Case of Gentry, AR, and Dorene January and husband Charles of Colcord, OK; brother, William Marshall and wife Paula of Inola, OK; grandchildren, Niki Reppy and husband Kevin, Scott Shook Jr. and wife Ashley, Nicholas Hayes, Bridget Hayes, and Candace Hoenshell and husband Caleb; great-grandchildren, Grace Shook, Scott Shook III, Alainna Hayes, Bay Hayes, Raychel Perryman, and Micah Hoenshell; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A visitation will be held at First Baptist Church on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Steve Abbott and Jeremy DeGroot, will follow the visitation, beginning at 10 a.m.
