Leon Wilson

Leon Wilson 92, of Stilwell, Oklahoma, passed away on June 14, 2023. Born Nov 14, 1930, in Waldron, AR, Leon was the son of George and Addie May Breeden Wilson. They raised Leon with love and care, providing a nurturing environment for Leon’s growth. Leon graduated from Gentry High School with the class of 1949, laying the foundation for a successful future. On December 11, 1949, he married Roberta Wilmoth of Decatur, AR. They celebrated 67 years of togetherness, exchanging vows in Gentry, AR, and building a life filled with love and cherished memories before her passing in 2017. Throughout his professional career, he made significant contributions and impacted numerous lives. As a young man in the 1950s, he worked diligently at Esso Standard Oil Co. and Dixie Dairy in Siloam Springs, AR, first as a plant superintendent and later as a vice president. Following this, Leon dedicated 11 years to Allen Canning Co. in Siloam Springs, AR, where he held the position of Assistant Sales Manager. In 1969 he received the Distinguished Salesman Award for outstanding sales record. Leon concluded his professional journey at Stilwell Foods, where he worked for 16 years before retiring as the Executive Vice President in 1992. He left an indelible mark on the frozen food industry and was regarded highly by colleagues and peers. Family was of utmost importance to Leon. He was blessed with two children: Janet (Brett) Bradley of Gentry, AR, and Clifford (Ella Mae) Wilson of Stilwell, OK. Leon took great joy in his children's accomplishments and was immensely proud of the family he had built. He leaves behind a legacy of four grandchildren, including Jennifer (Kenny) Mullins of Slater, MO, Clint (Teresa) Wilson of Stilwell, OK, Cosetta (Ron) Orsburn of Preston, OK, and Sam Jones of Stilwell, OK. Additionally, Leon was thrilled to be a great-grandparent to 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, with another on the way. Leon was a beloved brother, husband, father, uncle, and friend. His presence brought joy and wisdom to countless lives. Leon was known for his dedication to the frozen food and canning industries. Beyond his professional endeavors, Leon was a wood craftsman, train hobbyist, cattleman, and airplane pilot, finding solace and fulfillment in these pursuits. We will deeply miss the kindness, guidance, and unwavering support that Leon provided. He touched the hearts of many, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished for generations to come. Leon was preceded in death by his brother Elmer Lee Wilson of Siloam Springs, AR.
