Dr. J. Andrus

Dr. Roger J. Andrus, 91 year-old former resident of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, died December 13, 2006, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Born October 17, 1915, in Clear Lake, Iowa, he was the son of Max and Lucy Potter Andrus. The family moved to Minnesota in 1921, and Roger graduated from Mora High School, Mora, Minnesota, in 1933. He married Mary Roth, his childhood sweetheart, on December 6, 1939, in Phoenix, Arizona. He attended the University of Minnesota, Northwestern Bible College and Arizona Bible College. He graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1946. Following graduation from seminary, he was affiliated with Calvary Bible College of Kansas City, Missouri, for 27 years. At Calvary he spent ten years as teacher, dean, and vice president while pastoring two different churches, Maryland Heights Gospel Center and Old Orchard Chapel. He then served as president of Calvary Bible College for 17 years. Roger also served as a field representative for International Missions for two years and pastor of Community Bible Church in Omaha, Nebraska from 1976 to 1982. He served on Boards of Berean Mission, Gospel Missionary Union and the IFCA. Roger and Mary moved to Eureka Springs, Arkansas in May of 1982. He filled the pulpit at Calvary Bible Church, Rogers, Arkansas, for two years and shared the pulpit ministry at Lone Star Bible Church, Eureka Springs. Roger and Mary moved to Siloam Springs in 1997 and were members of Harvard Avenue Baptist Church for nine years before moving to Go Ye Village, Tahlequah, Oklahoma in 2006. Survivors include his wife Mary of the home, three sons, Joel Andrus of Indianola, Iowa, Dr. Michael Andrus of Wichita, Kansas and David Andrus of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; two daughters, Anna Jones, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and Mary Stoy of Germantown, Tennessee; 13 grandchildren; 4 foster grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2006, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, Arkansas, with Rev. John Faulkner officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2006, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
