Charles Blackburn

Charles Burian “Chuck” Blackburn, 75, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, died May 15, 2012, at Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville, Arkansas. Born December 2, 1936, in Pinsonfork, Kentucky, he was the son of Andrew Jackson Blackburn and Noleeka Meadows Blackburn. He moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, from Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1986, and from Rogers to Siloam Springs in 1996. He was a real estate agent. Chuck graduated from Power and Light Gospel School of Evangelism and was ordained in 2001. He also worked as a contract painter for several years and from 2002 to 2007, he worked part-time at Wasson Funeral Home. Chuck married Mary Jane Pettie in Siloam Springs, on October 26, 1996. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Siloam Springs. Chuck was an avid sports enthusiast. He ushered at University of Arkansas Razorback football games, basketball games, gymnastics, as well as track meets. He was also a high school basketball and football referee for 30 years and was a member of Arkansas Officials Association. Chuck coached church league and little league sports, He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gerald Blackburn, Ernest Blackburn, R. Edgar Blackburn, and sister Madalyn Crandall; infant sister Mary Blackburn; and two infant brothers, William and Brian Blackburn. Survivors include his wife Mary Jane of the home; daughter, Luanne Niedermann and husband Gary of New Brighton, Minnesota; son, Gregory Blackburn of Shoreview, Minnesota; step-son, Christian Pettie and wife Gina of Pine City, Minnesota; step-daughters, Stacey Gibson and husband Dan of Springfield, Missouri, Amy Owen and husband Paul of Georgetown, Texas, Cara Whorton and husband Brian of Muskogee, Oklahoma; brothers, Joe Blackburn and wife Nancy of Hardy, Kentucky, Burl Blackburn and wife Ruth of Hurricane, West Virginia; sister, Ruth Maynard of Grundy, Virginia; three grandchildren; and sixteen step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2012, at First Assembly of God Church, Siloam Springs, Arkansas, with Pastor Gary Wheat officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
