Billy Wilson

Billy Ray Wilson, 71, of Salina, Oklahoma died December 10, 2009, at his daughter’s home in Coker, Alabama. Born June 25, 1938 in San Bernardino, California, he was the son of Leonard Harlton Wilson and Caroline Louise Gammon Wilson. He had just moved back to Alabama October 11, 2009 after spending the last 15 years in Salina, Oklahoma. He was a resident of Tuscaloosa, Alabama from 1978 - 1993. He was a resident of Northwest Arkansas from 1943 - 1978. Before that he was a resident of San Bernardino, California from 1938 - 1943. He was in the National Guard from 1955 – 1967. He drove semi-trucks for decades. He served various law enforcement positions in Benton County, anywhere from City Marshall to Chief of Police. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Peggy Joyce Cook Wilson, a son Ronny Ray Wilson and a brother James (Jimmy) Richard Wilson. Survivors include four daughters, Carola Webber (Johnny Scharlach) of Arlington, TX, Tammy Driver (Chris) of Coker, AL, Debi Crookshank (Danny Fleming) of Locust Grove, OK, and Joyce Taylor of Tuscaloosa, AL; three sons, Mike Wilson of Tuscaloosa, AL, James Wilson of Benbrook, TX and Danny Beck of Tuscaloosa, AL; three brothers, Emil (Lyn) Grubb of Cave Springs, AR, Edmund (DeWayne) Grubb of Siloam Springs, AR and Leonard Wilson (Mary Lou) of Beaufort, SC; and one sister, Karen Janisch of Neosho, MO; ten grandchildren, P.J. Harrell, Baleigh Harrell, Jackson Driver, Nash Wilson, Ronny Wilson (Courtney), Lindsey Gibson (Brian) , Aaron Townsend, Honey Pannel, Christina Bradley (Matt) and James Richard Wilson; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Ronny Wilson, Johnny Scharlach, Rodney Janisch, Camden Janisch, Larry Foster and Danny Fleming. Honorary pallbearers are Don (Duck) Gammon, Leonard Patton, Tammy Hicks, Katy Tunnicliff, DeWitt Wright, David Wilson, Evelyn Royal, Alabama Home Health Care and Coker Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 14, 2009, at Falling Springs Community Church, near Decatur, AR, with (nephew) Bill Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Falling Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Disabled Veterans Association or National Leukemia Association.
