Betty Louise Stewart

Betty Louise Stewart, 95, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, went to be with Jesus on August 21, 2024. She was born on November 25, 1928, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to John and Freda Holt. Betty attended business college in Fayetteville where she studied short-hand and book-keeping, utilizing these skills in her work for Jones Truck Lines in Springdale for 19 years. In 1950, Betty married William “Bill” Stewart, Jr. in a small church in Fayetteville. Bill and Betty celebrated 73 years of marriage in 2023. Selfless love, faithfulness, and sacrifice are their legacy. Betty was a faithful member of Cross Church in Springdale for 65 years, serving on staff as a secretary and volunteering in various capacities through the years. Betty was a lifelong learner, an avid reader, a self-taught pianist and painter, and she even mastered texting on an iPhone in her final years. Betty loved to stay in touch with friends and family through email on her computer, often corresponding with her friends in Japan! Betty, “Mammaw,” was a master chef and baker for her family; her recipe box will be a cherished and priceless keepsake. Betty was selfless, intentional, loyal, honest, and she was the ultimate caregiver, raising two sons and several grandchildren who often faked sick just to have another “Mammaw Day” at home. Even with health concerns of her own, Betty made it her mission to lovingly care for her husband Bill until his death in April 2024. Betty is survived by her sons, Johnathan “Mark” and wife Amy Stewart of Louisville, Kentucky, and Ray and wife Anita Stewart of Springdale, Arkansas; brother, Delmar and wife Jackie Holt of Harrison, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Monica Stewart, Phillip Stewart and wife Heather, Matthew Stewart and wife Courtney, Alyssa Stewart, and Katie Day and husband Grant; nine great-grandchildren, Willow, Titus, Mercy, Levi, Haven, Autumn, Shepherd, Eden, and Kai; niece, Linda and husband Greg Baile, a special cousin Carol Crownover, as well as many beloved friends and caregivers at Butterfield Trail Village where Betty has lived for 22 years. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Cross Church in Springdale with pastors Matt Stewart and Charlie Foster officiating. A visitation will be held beforehand at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ministries of Cross Church, 1709 Johnson Road, Springdale, AR 72762, or the Arkansas Baptist Children’s Home, 9701 W. Markham St., Little Rock, AR 72205.
