There
are several grief support groups in Northwest Arkansas. One
of the oldest and most successful is sponsored by Wasson Funeral
Home. It meets twice a month on the first and third Tuesday,
6:30 P.M. in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist
Church in Siloam Springs. The group is independent of any
denominational group and is totally free of charge to anyone
who wishes to attend. There are no membership requirements
other than a feeling of need. You may call (479) 524-5131
for further information.
Danny Wasson, Operations Manager for Wasson Funeral Home,
has been in charge of the grief support group. He has had
special training in this field and has been successful in
helping many people through the grief process.
You will probably feel a variety of emotions when you lose
someone you love. The ability to make it through the death
of a loved one can be challenging. You may have feelings of
shock and disbelief, anger, guilt and depression.
Caring for yourself is not selfish. The period of recovery
is different for every person. There is no timetable for grief,
so don't compare yourself with others who have lost loved
ones. Your life has changed and healing in your own way is
important for the health of your mind, body and spirit. It's
normal for some days to be better than others.
At Wasson Funeral Home, we strive to provide the resources
to help you with the grief process. Please contact one of
our staff to help guide you towards the information, support,
or counseling options you may need.
